Affluent Brescia is an industrial hub whose Roman and medieval monuments are relatively undiscovered. Its strategic location in the foothills of the Alps and midway between Lake Garda and Lake Iseo was coveted by invaders, and during efforts to ward off the Austrians it earned the nickname of the Lioness of Italy.
Brescia’s oldest landmarks are the Capitolium, overlooking the former Forum, and the Roman theatre remains. Artefacts found on both sites are displayed in the city museum in St Julia’s Monastery alongside remains of 2 Roman houses with their original mosaics, murals and underfloor heating.
The Broletto was the medieval town hall and it shares a large, cobbled square with the round Old Cathedral (or Rotonda) which is partly below current street level. Between them is the New Cathedral, begun in the 17th century. Piazza della Loggia is dominated by the Loggia itself and at the opposite end is a porticoed walkway housing shops and cafes.
Overlooking this from a hill is Brescia Castle whose ramparts offer views towards the lush Franciacorta wine-growing region. To the east is Sant'Eufemia della Fonte Monastery, home of the Mille Miglia Museum commemorating the iconic motorsport race which started here.
Booking.com’s accommodation options include luxury hotels, cheap apartments by the train station and B&Bs near Brescia Airport.

Brescia is a magnificent city -- very walkable through the historic centre and UNESCO world heritage site, fabulous architecture -- from Roman ruins through medieval to Renaissance, 19th century and 20th century deco buildings. The main museum is outstanding, shopping areas under porticos are fabulous, and the centre is bustling with beautiful plazas and squares, and fabulous restaurants and bars. A unique experience is the elegant restaurant, Antico Beccaria.

Brescia is not a small town but like big other big cities in Italy it is not the same as in the past. It is calm although full of foreign people, has a beautiful ancient centre and cathedral and one can make a walk for 2-3 hours and one lunch or coffee. There is a faculty of economy of Brescia and so students and the city is not dead. As you know the students drive economy and keep economy live, so the town is better than cities like Trento, Parma, Genova, but less interesting than Verona, Pisa, Bologna.

Parco Archeologico di Brescia Romana had an impressive roman temple facade, frescoes, mosaics and marble floors, and the vast Museo di Santa Giulia housed some spectacular remains of roman villas. Well worth a visit. Views from the Castle were spectacular. Taking the train to Verona is also highly recommended (not on a Monday when THAT balcony and the amphitheatre were closed).

Brescia is an underrated city for sure.
Brescia is an underrated city for sure. However, there's a lot to see/visit here and a great place to explore the area (I easily took one day trips to Bergamo and Bologna, as well as Lake Garda).
The Santa Giulia museum is absolutely a-ma-zing.

Brescia itself is a super nice place.
Brescia itself is a super nice place. But what infected me chose it and accordingly recommend it - a great starting point for a trip. Direct train to Milan, direct train to Verona. By car, Lago di Garda is 30-40 minutes away.
The hotel is located in the heart of the city center. But, at the same time, it's a quiet place. Valentina was helping us with each request. We would like to thank her for her patience with us :-)
The room is really big. Literally speaking, it's an apartment. We used all of the facilities which are new. Almost each early morning, we enjoyed birdsong from the opened windows. So cool! Overall, it was a very nice experience! Totally recommend this place.
The Areadocks was by far the best hotel experience I’ve ever had. From the exquisite design, to the super cool and friendly team working at the hotel (they found out I forgot something at the hotel and managed to send it on the next hotel I was, on time, during Christmas) to the great rooms, shop and super cool restaurant and bar.
it’s a straight 10 out of 10 for me, I would visit Brescia again just to stay at Areadocks.
The location was excellent and close to grocery stores and restaurants. The host David was very nice and prepared everything we needed. David also prepared water, milk, and other kitchen essentials. The room was very comfortable and clean. Kitchen was easy to use and brand new. When we were leaving, David helped us with our luggage. We would definitely choose this hotel if we were coming to Brescia again!
The location is perfect for anybody who wishes the visit the beautiful city of Brescia. Very beautiful, peaceful hotel. I had a big room with lots of space, it was nicely decorated and extremely clean. Tea and coffee in the room and very nice bathroom amenities. The breakfast was absolutely great (best granola I have ever eaten and very tasty fresh fruits for me). Lydia is very nice and super helpful.
We spent 3 wonderful days in Brescia and surrounding lakes Iseo and Garda. The hotel is located just a few minutes of the highway and 10 minutes drive south from Brescia. The hotel exterior is a lovely traditional Italian building, while the room was completely modern - which we really liked. The room was newly renovated and I especially enjoyed the modern and very functional bathroom.
This was a very decent hotel that we booked last minutes while we were already on the road. Good value for money, friendly and helpful staff. For us, it was important to have a safe parking space for the car, and we had it. It's in a walking distance from the historical centre, so we even did some sightseeing, even though we stayed in Brescia only for one night
Hotel included everything as written in description before booking. The hotel contains parking in front of the hotel and underground garage. Breakfast was okay for me. I would just recommend having eggs not just boiled as an option.
The location is perfect. Metro station is 500m far away and even walking to the city isnt too far away (aprox. 15 min).
A very large room/bathroom that is very clean and looks beautiful. It is right in the city center, you can reach the dome in 2 minutes by foot.
The owner speaks excellent English and is very friendly. Overall this is one of the best rooms in that price category I've been to in Italy.
The appartment was well situated in a quiet street, convenient for supermarket, cafes, restaurants and not far from the city centre. It was ideal for exploring the historic city of Brescia and surrounding area. There was also a nice outside terrace to chill out on.
Staff was really nice and always ready to help for any questions we had.
Parking could be done in front of the hotel or at a special parking space (free of charge).
Room was clean and big enough for a 4 member family.
The hotel had several little touches to make your stay more comfortable. Plenty of free parking, lots of fluffy white towels, magnifying mirror to do your makeup in the bathroom, tasty breakfast and good coffee.
We were on an intra rail journey in Italy, and this was a great discovery to rest before exploring Brescia and the lakes. The building is astonishing and the inner garden peaceful and delightful.
A very nice hotel in Brescia, close to the stadium where the BAM race (event that I was attending) took place. The personnel is extremely kind and very helpful and the breakfast is very nice.
The room was nice and I had a very nice stay there. It is close to restaurants and a very short walk to the museums. The staff at the hotel are very nice.
